Ankur Desai looks back at some of the big news, entertainment and sports stories of the year. They include the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s first Asian prime minister and the cost of living crisis. It was a sad year for music fans with the loss of Lata Mangeshkar and Sidhu Moose Wala. And in sport we had the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and a football World Cup in Qatar which was dogged by controversy but praised as one of the most exciting tournaments ever.
