Tom chats to LA producer and artist Nosaj Thing about his new album ‘Continua’, and LA-based Iranian-American producer and DJ Maral ahead of her mix for The Ravers Hour.
Nosaj Thing's new album ‘Continua’ features HYUKOH, Julianna Barwick, Pink Siifu, Toro y Moi, Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead), Pink Siifu, serpentwithfeet, Mike Andrews, & Eyedress. It comes five years since his last album, ‘Parallels’.
Maral has just released ‘Ground Groove’ her third full-length release. She draws upon a vast personal archive of Iranian folk, classical, and pop recordings (some sourced from mixtapes made by her parents in the eighties/nineties).
She speaks of being in collaboration with her samples, treating each as a distinct bandmate, often consulting with an artist’s catalog (or even a single recording) as one would a trusted creative partner.
