Rajan Datar travels to Osaka, a city that has been dubbed 'Japan’s comedy capital' to try his hand at a traditional form of Japanese stand-up. He also meets some of the people battling the elements along Japan’s eastern coastline. He finds out what it’s like to live on a volcanic island facing the threat of further eruptions and travels to a village with a unique solution to the problem of rural depopulation, before heading to the 8th Century capital Nara, a place overrun not with people, but with four legged ‘messengers of god’.
