SCI Foundation
The Foundation works together with Ministries of Health around the world to prevent and treat people affected by parasitic worm infections, such as schistosomiasis. This debilitating disease is transmitted when people come into contact with parasite-infested water during their everyday activities like swimming, fishing or washing clothes. Around 236 million people are affected by the disease worldwide. It prevents children from going to school and impairs their ability to learn, harming their present and their future. In the worst cases, it can cause serious chronic disease and death. But schistosomiasis is preventable, and treatment is cheap and effective.

Awareness and Treatment

We support mass treatment campaigns in schools & raise awareness amongst health professionals and communities. Through mapping & surveys, we help government-led programmes identify where transmission occurs so that treatment is targeted.
Abdallah’s story

When Abdallah contracted schistosomiasis, he was in pain. It disrupted his learning as he had to make several trips to the toilet. Working with the Ministry of Health, we helped ensure that Abdallah & everyone in his school received treatment.
How you can help

A £50 donation will buy deworming treatments for 150 children like Abdallah so they can look forward to a brighter future.
