The Consone Quartet play Haydn's Frog Quartet
Chamber music from Radio 3's New Generation Artists: the Consone Quartet play Haydn's 'Frog' Quartet - the last and grandest of his Prussian Quartets.
The Consone Quartet bring their period instruments to the last of Haydn's Prussian Quartets in a performance given at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The autographed manuscript of this grandest of the set turned up by chance when it was extracted from a plastic bag and shown to the conductor and scholar Christopher Hogwood after a concert in Melbourne having been brought to Australia by a British colonel who had bought it in London before emigrating. Also today, tracks from the new album from the captivating Mariam Batsashvili.
