Heather Dewar draws a colour portrait of teacher Morvern McPhee. Tha Fraoch Nic an Deòir a’deanamh dealbh dathte dhen tidsear Ìleach Morvern Nic a’Phi.

Combining the role of artist and interviewer, Heather Dewar creates colour portraits of well-known Gaels, while teasing out of them every little detail of their life story!

Heather is back on Islay in Kilchoman where she meets Morvern McPhee, who was brought up on the island and now works there as a teacher. Her great-grandfather was Donald McPhee who, along with his brother John, saved several people from the Otranto after it was wrecked off the west coast of Islay in 1918.
