Composer Sally Beamish chooses works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Malcolm Arnold and Bohuslav Martinů.
Composer Sally Beamish curates a special edition of the In Tune Mixtape featuring music that has inspired her throughout her career, including works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Malcolm Arnold and Bohuslav Martinů. We'll also hear a special song written by Sally's daughter, Stephanie Irvine, as a wedding gift, a classic pop song by the Chordettes chosen for Sally's grandson, and a rollicking slice of Scottish folk music from Chris Stout and Catriona McKay.
Sally Beamish's piece 'Hive' receives its world premiere at the BBC Proms on 21st July, performed by harpist Catrin Finch. You can hear it live on BBC Radio 3 and catch up on BBC Sounds.
