The Blessed Madonna shares the story of one of music's greatest poets: Gil Scott-Heron.
The Blessed Madonna shares the story of one of music's greatest poets: Gil Scott-Heron.
Born in Chicago in 1949, Gil was astonishingly precocious, publishing two novels and a book of poems before embarking on a musical career with keyboardist Brian Jackson in the 70s.
His first musical offering was Small Talk at 125th and Lenox - which was mostly an album of poems.
On later albums, however, Gil developed into a skilled songwriter whose work was soon covered by numerous other artists.
