Duchenne UK’s mission is to find effective treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a severe muscle-wasting disease usually diagnosed in young boys. We connect scientists, the pharmaceutical industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate medical research, while bringing everyone affected by DMD the care and support they need.
Investing in research and technology

We fund ground-breaking medical research, aiming to benefit this generation of patients diagnosed with DMD. Gene therapy was once a far-off hope but is now being tested in clinical trials in the UK.
Accelerating access to effective treatments

DMD is working to break down barriers to get safe and effective treatments to patients as quickly as possible. We fund the infrastructure needed to run clinical trials, and have brought pharmaceutical companies together to change the way new DMD treatments are assessed.
Giving families the care and support they need

Founded by mothers, Duchenne UK understands the challenges faced by DMD families. We are working with the NHS to ensure every family receives the best care and provide them with resources to support them every step of the way.
