In Conversation with James Duncan MacKenzie
Music from a brand new release from piper and composer James Duncan MacKenzie, and a trip back in time to a classic concert from Celtic Connections a decade ago.
Gary West chats to piper, flautist and composer, James Duncan MacKenzie, about his latest solo album release, Fibhig, and about his music making in general following his move back to his native Isle of Lewis. We hear too from his mentor, the late Pipe Major Iain Morrison, and also pay tribute to two young pipers who have sadly passed away of late, Warren Graham of Kilmarnock and Robyn Gray from Canada. And ten years on from their seminal concert at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, there are quality sets from the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland and from the Lothian and Borders Police pipe band in their final concert performance before they disbanded in 2013.
