Friday - Musical Geography

Today, Telemann's Musical Geography, Schumann's First Symphony and Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture. Presented by Penny Gore.

Penny Gore introduces performances by BBC ensembles and groups around Europe. Today, Czech Ensemble Baroque with Musical Geography, a compilation assembled in 1959 by Adolf Hoffmann from several Telemann Ouverture-Suites depicting European countries and even America. Also, Schumann's Symphony No. 1 'Spring' with the Ulster Orchestra; we hear again from the Latvian Radio Choir singing Arvo Pärt's Seven Magnificat Antiphons; also, Mendelssohn's Hebrides overture with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and Brahms's Clarinet Quintet, performed by Sabine Meyer and the Armida Quartet.
