Music, chat and rock legend Robert Plant

Singer, songwriter and former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant joins Mark and Stuart to share his ‘First, Last and Everything’ and chat about his latest album.

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.

Today they are very excited to welcome to the show singer, songwriter, former Led Zeppelin frontman and all-round rock legend Robert Plant. Robert shares his 'First, Last and Everything' - that’s the first record he owned, the most recent one he’s been enjoying and the record that means ‘everything’ to him.

He also chats to Mark and Stuart about his latest album with Alison Krauss, ‘Raise The Roof.’ The album marks their first collaborative record in 14 years, following 2007’s Raising Sand, which went platinum and won six Grammy Awards including Album and Record of the Year. Like Raising Sand, their new album is made up of new takes on songs from legends and unsung heroes of folk, blues, country and soul music. Recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios just before lockdown, it features reworked versions of songs by the likes of Merle Haggard, Allen Toussaint, The Everly Brothers, Anne Briggs and Calexico.

Also on the show... long-running feature ‘The Chain’, which gives listeners the chance to pick a track that links in some way to the last. The list now contains over 8000 songs.

With a selection of music old and new to get the weekend started.
