Shula apologises to Neil for her recent behaviour; she was frustrated with her broken arm and having to put her church placement on hold. Neil understands – they’ve been friends for a long time, she can be herself with him. Shula notices something’s up, but when Neil expands on Shula’s disappointment, it’s about the memory box he’s making for Martha. Shula thinks it’s a lovely idea. Neil thanks Shula for saving Alice.

Exhausted Susan and Neil are on edge and Susan takes umbrage when Chris comments they’re like ships in the night. Chris wonders when they last had any relaxing time together.

Helen’s not around when Susan asks for some of her shifts back, but Pat says she’s sure Helen would bite her hand off. They’ve missed Susan, even though Kirsty’s been doing a great job. When Pat says it can’t be easy having Martha, Susan says it’s busy, but she loves it. However, she admits tearfully that she thinks her and Neil are drifting apart, and Tracy’s noticed it too. There’s something coming between them. Pat suggests following Tracy’s advice, and finding some time just for the two of them. Later Chris surprises Neil and Susan; he’s chipped in with Emma and Tracy for dinner for two at Grey Gables. Susan confides to Neil that it makes her feel like everyone’s been gossiping about them. But Neil reckons that some time together might be just what they need.
