It’s judgement day for Kirsty and Emma faces a dilemma.

Alice and Emma are shopping but Alice is distracted, concerned about Martha who’s with Chris. Emma reassures her and Chris’s text shows Martha is still sleeping. You never stop worrying about your kids, Emma says. Alice begins to enjoy herself as Emma reminisces about her own experiences of motherhood. Emma investigates booking a manicure for them both but on her return she’s perturbed; the prices are very low and the workers look scared. Emma decides to call the modern slavery helpline; better safe than sorry.
Kirsty’s waiting nervously for a call from Harrison about the court case. Roy tries to take her mind off it by asking about the Mystery Plays which most people seem relieved are now cancelled. Kirsty admits she’s worried the judge will fall for Philip’s smooth talking just as she did. Roy suggests they think of something positive about 2020 to put in Ben’s time capsule. But what was good about last year, Kirsty asks? Roy insists you have to look for silver linings and then reveals he’s met someone online – though it’s early days.
Later, when Harrison calls, Kirsty learns Philip got eight years and Gavin, five. Philip was unrepentant, recalls Harrison and he became aggressive when the judge accused him of preying on the vulnerable. Kirsty feels sorry for Gavin but Harrison tells her he knew what he was doing. She feels sick but Harrison reassures her it’s over now. Roy rallies round. Kirsty’s glad he’s there, and he tells her she’s amazing.
