Lilian attempts to keep the peace and Rex offers a solution.

Emma recruits Rex to help her construct the obstacle course for adults for the event she’s organising to relaunch the playground by raising money for an anti-slavery charity. As Rex runs through ideas, Emma identifies where they can get what they need. When she suggests Brookfield, Rex explains things aren’t great between him and the Brookfield Archers at the moment. He’s applying for a Council Farm but he doesn’t fancy his chances. Emma encourages him to follow his dreams.

Tom wishes his dad a happy 70th birthday. Tony’s having a great day so far, particularly as Lilian and Justin have bought him a model railway engine. Tom’s hoping Tony’s changed his mind about Peggy not coming to his birthday tea but he most definitely hasn’t. After a frantic call from Tom, Lilian visits Tony. She tries to get Tony to see things from Peggy’s perspective – life was hard for her when Tony was born. Lilian feels that Jennifer was the golden girl of the family and neither she nor Tony measured up to her. What’s more their mother is 96 years old so she’s unlikely to change. Can Tony just let her come this afternoon, and have a happy day with the family?
