Brian makes his presence felt and Freddie tries to keep the peace.

Brian’s surprised to see Justin at his rewilding meeting with Phoebe. There’s some needle on both sides as Justin discovers Pip’s left the rewilding project. He also announces his proposal to drop any involvement with the barns; the rewilders can either buy him out, or put the barns on the market. Brian declares this is Justin’s revenge for being pushed out of Berrow. But Phoebe announces the barns aren’t useful to the rewilders anyway. Selling them will be the perfect opportunity to cut their connection by association to the incidence of slavery. When Justin leaves Brian confronts Phoebe. Surely it would be rash to sell the barns? But Phoebe asserts they’re not a good fit with the business. They can build an eco-office, and they have plenty of other income sources in development. Brian thinks she’s being too optimistic and blasé about the whole thing – looks like he’s come on board at just the right time.
Freddie acknowledges to Shula that she must have had a good reason for visiting Philip; he just wants her and Elizabeth to sort out their row as soon as possible. Freddie talks to his mum. Elizabeth confesses she feels utterly betrayed. Freddie points out Shula’s decision came from a good place – and how supportive she was when Elizabeth was at her lowest ebb. Maybe his mum can return the favour. Elizabeth sees the sense in this, and apologises to her sister. Shula accepts. But she admits the situation’s given her pause; she’s thinking of pulling out of her ordination course. She's not sure she’s cut out to be a priest.
