Fiona Talkington introduces the second programme this week exploring the work of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in recordings made in Cardiff and Bangor, On the bill today is a substantial concerto for sitar which combines North Indian classical raag and taal with western orchestral traditions and a work for cello and ensemble inspired variously by the ‘cello suites of Bach and Britten and a world, "where ‘stars’ can be born overnight with the help of stylists and Saturday night telly. Two works by Sir James MacMillan showcase both the orchestra and the BBC National Chorus of Wales.
