The all-Scottish women’s curling team win gold at the Winter Olympics, the first Team GB gold since Torvill and Dean in 1984.
Meanwhile, at the 74th Academy Awards, Halle Berry becomes the first black woman to be named Best Actress. In Scotland, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs is designated the country’s first National Park.

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee year begins on a sombre note following the death of Princess Margaret, with the Queen Mother passing away at the age of 101 just seven weeks later.

And Scotland international striker Julie Fleeting signs for San Diego Spirit, while on TV, the first series of a new comedy set in the fictional Glasgwegian borough of Craiglang airs.
