In a Talking Movies sport special the programme will explore how sport and cinema have come together over the decades. The special will air at the time when the now-postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games would have commenced and will profile the esteemed Japanese director, Naomi Kawase hired as the official filmmaker of the Games. Carmen Roberts in Japan will interview Kawase, known for making intimate cinema, and ask how she will tackle the task of documenting the world's most famous sporting event. The programme will also cover other aspects of the relationship between sport and cinema including Bollywood's involvement with cricket in India and the rise of sports documentaries.
