CHICKS
Children’s charity CHICKS gives hundreds of children and young people living in desperately difficult circumstances across the UK the chance to escape their worries and pressures on a week-long respite break. From retreats set in the beautiful countryside, those aged 8-15 who are living in poverty, suffering the effects of bullying, abuse or bereavement or coping with the responsibilities of being carers are given the chance to have a week of adventure, far away from the challenges they face at home, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Stolen childhoods

Many young people referred to CHICKS live in fear; childhoods stolen by years of abuse and neglect. Others are suffering the agonising pain of losing a loved one, shouldering the responsibility of caring for a family member, or have never left the estate they were born on.
The chance for a break

Each week at CHICKS is packed with confidence-building activities and fun in the outdoors to inspire curiosity and a connection with nature. CHICKS combines these with more relaxing pursuits to give time for reflection and consideration, and improve overall well-being.
Lasting impact

"What more can a young person want in their circumstances other than to be accepted and not judged for who they are? CHICKS is a very magical place." A description by Charlotte, a Family Services Coordinator who refers young carers to CHICKS for a break.
