Soviet synth-pop, a Japanese orchestra in pyjamas and Quincy Jones’ The Wiz, put together by the Moscow-based producer and songwriter Kate NV.

The Moscow-based songwriter shares her favourite underground and experimental music including plenty of 1980s Soviet synth pop; a whimsical love song by the Japanese orchestra Haniwa All-Stars and a selection from Quincy Jones’ famous soundtrack to The Wiz, a 1978 reimagining of The Wizard of Oz.

Kate Shilonosova is a producer and songwriter who releases solo material as Kate NV as well as fronting the new-wave post-punk group ГШ. Inspired by Japanese new wave, blissed out electronica and 1980s synths her solo work is a playful, other-worldly take on pop music.
