Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Episode 7 of 20

Four artistic gymnasts from Birmingham hope to take the world by storm.

In Birmingham, four young gymnasts are taking the world of male artistic gymnastics by storm! The boys are trained by coach Luke, who is himself a former Olympian, and they are are setting themselves big targets for the fast approaching National Championships. British champion Zion has been fighting an injury but is determined to come back stronger this year. Trumaine also had an injury, which lost him his place in the National Squad last season, and he’s determined to win it back. The youngest squad member, Codi, just needs to hold his nerve, while Winston is also fighting for a place in the squad, but as the oldest boy in the squad it’s his last chance this year in his current age group.

Elite artistic gymnasts Amelie and Phoebe are focusing on their futures, with both determined to win scholarships to American universities. They hope to be selected for their gymnastic ability, but they also have to succeed at school to win a place. The girls have decided to return to mainstream school to focus on their studies and get the grades they need to get into university. However, gymnastics is still at the front of their mind and straight after school they’re back at the gym as two coaches from Phoebe’s first-choice American University have come to watch her to decide whether or not they will offer her a scholarship.

Superstar gymnasts Joe Fraser and Dom Cunningham are back again with a tough ‘Circle-Up’ challenge for the Bristol boys, and our Gym Stars Top 20 gymnast is Becky Downie, a two-time Olympian who even has a bar move named after her – the Downie!
