Clare Balding presents live coverage of the women’s individual time trial, where riders race over a specially designed 30km course from Ripon to Harrogate. The first 12km are relatively flat before competitors are greeted with undulating hills over the second half of the race.
The Netherlands have been the dominant force in women’s cycling in recent years and Annemiek van Vleuten led home a Dutch 1-2-3 at last year’s World Championships. There was another Dutch winner at the recent European Championships with Ellen van Dijk claiming gold and the nation’s riders have won over half of the women’s world tour event races this season.
