Manufacturing remains a key sector of our economy, but what can be done to attract more young people and women into the industry?
Manufacturing remains a key sector of our economy, employing around 90,000 people. That's the highest level in 10 years. It's also supposed to be an important part of our economic future . Advanced Manufacturing was a key plank of Stormont's planned industrial strategy. Like any sector, if it's to thrive it has to keep attracting talent, but with one estimate suggesting only 6 % of young people see it as a career, it faces a stark problem. And then there are the number of women working in the sector - just around 1 in 5 of the total. So what can be done about that?
