Episode 5
Wild swimming is one of Calum Maclean’s favourite passions. He travels to Eas Mòr at the foot of the Cuillin on the Isle of Skye.
An treas streath a’ leantail Chaluim MhicIlleathain a’ snàmh ann an uisgeachan reòite ann an àrainneachd iomallach. Tha Calum airson a h-uile seòrsa snàimh a dhèanamh agus rinn e liosta pearsanta dheth na lochan agus uisgeachan a bu mhiann leis snamh. Tòrr dheth na h-àiteachan ‘s fheàrr leis, chan eil iad air an sanasachd agus feumaidh snàmhadair oidhirp air leth an ruighinn.
Anns a’ phrògram-sa, bidh Calum a’ snàmh aig Eas Mòr, àite aig bonn a’ Chuilthinn anns an Eilean Sgitheanach. Tha Eas Mòr sònraichte agus ainmeil ann an Gleann Bhreatail agus mar a chanas Calum, “An seo, chan eil e soilleir cà bheil na crìochan – tha uisge a’ coinneachadh ri adhar, creag ri uisge”. Àite sònraichte gu cinnteach airson snàmhadair!
Calum Maclean shares his passion for swimming in remote lochs and rivers. There is nothing that Calum loves better than finding far-flung locations for outdoor swimming, and he has made a personal wish-list of places he has always wanted to visit and swim in. He has chosen ten of his favourite places throughout Scotland, most of which are not well known and difficult to access without strenuous endeavours.
As Calum frequently states, he doesn’t just swim for the water but also for the magnificent views. Calum makes his way to Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye to discover a beautiful waterfall called Eas Mòr. It lies at the foot of the Cuillin and offers a wonderful landscape but a place that few swimmers know about. As Calum asserts: 'It’s not entirely clear where the boundaries are - water touches air and rock touches water'. A special place for wild swimming!
