Will hits rock bottom and a shocking secret is revealed.
It’s still Thursday afternoon, and Will tells Emma to leave the cottage despite her pleas.
Ed gets a call from Emma. She needs him – now. Ed and his dad arrive at Greenwood to find the doors locked and frantic Emma outside. Ed reassures her Poppy’s not inside, before Eddie forces entry. Emma feels responsible for this. She’d been harsh with Will and had come to apologise. For what, asks Ed? He follows Eddie inside. They find Will in Poppy’s empty room, holding the shotgun. Freaked out Will orders Ed out of the house, and Ed reluctantly complies. Eddie carefully talks Will down. Will feels he’s lost everything and everyone’s against him. When his dad points out how much his children love and need him, Will puts the gun down.
Meanwhile Ed discovers Will had tried to kiss Emma. Raging, he re-enters the house and confronts his brother. The two row bitterly. Ed blurts out the secret about Nic and the hit and run, and Will reaches for the gun. They tussle, and it goes off. Hysterical Emma runs to Ed’s aid, but he’s unhurt. Shocked Will turns the gun on himself. All three coax him to re-think. The only way he’ll lose Poppy is to give up on her. Tense moments later, Will relinquishes the gun. Eddie soothes him – he won’t be on his own anymore.
