Children Change Colombia

After long years of armed conflict, many children in Colombia still face poverty, violence and social exclusion. Children Change Colombia helps these children go from conflict and insecurity to lives of peace and safety. Through partnerships with local children’s organisations, we focus on the issues and places that get little or no attention.

Conflict has forced millions to flee their homes and settle in crowded neighbourhoods with limited access to basic services. Here, children are recruited by gangs and armed groups. But we can provide them with a place of safety.

Adults have a duty to protect children’s rights, but for some, like Carlos’s mum, who you’ll hear about in the appeal, it can be hard if their own rights are being neglected. So we also support adults and ensure they know how to keep children safe.

Our 25+ years working with at-risk children like Carlos have taught us that, when supported by adults, they are capable of gaining the skills and confidence to transform their own lives, their communities and Colombia itself.
