Ian Paisley remains as MP for North Antrim after a petition to remove him, for accepting free holidays from a foreign government, fails.

The DUP MP Ian Paisley has kept his Westminster seat and there will be no by-election in North Antrim after the petition to unseat him failed. It was triggered after he was suspended from the House of Commons for failing to declare two holidays paid for by the Sri Lankan government. Mr Paisley said the electorate had "clearly spoken" and thanked his backers, including what he called his "true friends" for their "unwavering support".
