Lester Young in the 1950s
Lester Young was one of the most influential saxophonists in jazz, and this edition includes some of his later recordings.
Tenor saxophonist Lester Young had an influence in jazz which continues to this day almost 60 years after his death. His lifestyle brought his life to a tragically early end, and in the last year or two his performances were badly affected. And yet just a few years earlier he was still playing with great sensitivity. This edition includes many such recordings from the mid 50s.
