Coercive Control

Woman's Hour explores the subject of coercive control and what to do about it. The programme hears from listeners and women working in the field of domestic abuse.

Last week we spoke to writer Helen Walmsley-Johnson about her experience of being abused and coercively controlled. Helen said "this is a pattern of behaviour that is still under-reported, under-prosecuted and embedded in the humdrum of domesticity". We got such a huge response that we decided to devote a whole programme to the subject. We hear from three listeners with different experiences, Jane Keeper, director of operations at Refuge and Marianna Tortell from the Domestic Violence Intervention Programme.
