Lilian turns detective, and Elizabeth is put on the spot.
Pip wakes Toby as she leaves for morning milking, and discovers that he's bought her muffins. She thanks him for the perfect boyfriend routine, but reminds him that for the moment they're keeping things low-key. Later, when Toby leaves, he encounters Elizabeth. He hopes she doesn't mind him having a key. Elizabeth points out that Pip is an adult, entitled to make her own choices.
Elizabeth sees David in the shop, and he asks when Pip will come home. He jokingly wonders if Pip's hiding a new boyfriend, after the fuss with Toby. Elizabeth reports the awkward conversation to Pip. She can't promise to lie if David asks a direct question - Pip will have to tell her parents about Toby soon.
Lilian brings James up to speed on what she knows about Matt's business dealings. Matt got Anisha to vet top-class horses, videoing her examinations. But the horses he ended up buying on behalf of Melling Equestrian Investments were of lower quality. James encourages Lilian to call the investment company, posing as a potential client. They're intrigued when she mentions she knows their agent in Borsetshire. James visits the Regent Street address from the brochure, and finds only a row of PO boxes. He thinks the whole business stinks to high heaven.
