Lilian finds herself tempted, while David and Ruth worry about Pip.

Pip's not herself, and her lack of enthusiasm on the farm is worrying David and Ruth. Her involvement in decisions concerning the expansion of the herd is key. Adam admits she doesn't seem herself, in contrast with Josh, who's buzzing. Ruth wishes some of it would rub off on Pip. They're concerned she'll take up an offer on another farm eventually; there's nothing keeping her in Ambridge.

Ian's done more research on donor eggs and surrogacy, and talks Adam through the process. Adam does his best to share Ian's enthusiasm, and later informs Ian he's arranged to look after Henry, alone, for a few hours.

Lilian receives a surprise invitation to the Cheltenham Literature Festival - from Matt. She accepts, inventing a cover story for Justin. She promises she'll be back for supper. She has a fun and interesting day with Matt, and he wants to extend the day to include dinner. After a moment of hesitation, Lilian calls Justin with an excuse. Justin's very put out. He'd spent a long time researching and cooking a special meal, gleaning tips from Ian. As Lilian arrives home late, the air is tense, and she and Justin bid one another a frosty good night.
