New Belfast city logo splits opinion

Belfast has a new logo, but not everybody is impressed. It's said to be inspired by the geographical shape of Belfast. Councillor Jim Rodgers has defended the logo and has said the old Belfast 'B' brand was tired and needed changing. "The new brand identity is based around a 'starburst' shape" - that's what Belfast city council's press office told the programme. But a whistleblower from the council has contacted the Nolan show saying the logo is "appalling". In response, Belfast City Council have told us "the success of any city brand should be measured by its use by its city partners. To date, even in its infancy, several key stakeholders in the city, such as Translink and Visit Belfast, have all used the new brand."
