UUP's Jim Rodgers clashes with SF's Jim McVeigh over plan to ban dangerous bonfires

Belfast City Council has voted in favour of a motion extending the powers to deal with dangerous bonfires.

The motion was carried by 31 votes to 21. Unionists all voted against the motion at a meeting of the council last night, saying it was unnecessary. It was brought by the Sinn Fein leader on the council Jim McVeigh.

Disabled holidaymaker fury as wheelchair destroyed on Jet2 flight
