New bonfire row over Sinn Fein bid to give council officials the power to remove material

Give council officials the power to remove material from bonfires sites "which belong to statutory agencies and those which are in private ownership."
That's the motion that's been put forward at Belfast city council by Sinn Fein's Jim McVeigh. He claims council officials don't feel they can lift tyres and pallets from contentious sites because unionists have withdrawn their consent. Mr McVeigh says "if there's a vote in favour then the council can remove that stuff."
However, the DUP have hit back and accused Jim McVeigh's motion of being "an exercise in ego".
