Patricia Greene, Gender pay gap, Love Island

All this week we'll be talking to actor Patricia Greene about sixty years in the role of Jill Archer. We dip into The Archers' archive as far back as 1959 and discuss how her character has reflected changes in women's lives over time.

Some of the BBC's most high-profile female personalities have called on the corporation to "act now" to deal with the gender pay gap. At the BBC the gender pay gap is 10%, whereas nationally that figure is 18%. So what is the situation like for women across the country in the workplace? Jane hears from listeners and talks to Sarah Veale, former head of Equality and Employment Rights at the TUC, Labour MP Jess Phillips and Charlie Dobrez, Director of Lewes FC in Sussex where the women's and men's teams are paid the same.

Love Island divides opinion. Some adore escaping to Majorca every evening for 60 minutes of sun, skimpy swimwear and bronzed, beautiful contestants. Others cannot fathom the vulgarity of the reality TV show and dismiss it as trash.
