A statue of Weld's celebrated founder has been desecrated. Well, technically it has been desecrated again since it had already lost its head, and no-one knows how. With Constable Tom feeling the long-unsolved crime is a shameful blot on his career, he challenges George to go one better and solve the mystery of the statue, and soon George is drawn into a web of local secrets, lies and intrigue.
