Deaf Children and LEAs

Topical magazine series. Erika Levi investigates whether deaf children are getting the support they need at school.

When the government introduced reforms to the special education system in England back in 2014, they said it would help parents to get the support they needed for their children. But three years on, many families are still reporting problems with getting deaf children into appropriate schools. Erika Levi investigates if the special education system is working and why many parents are still feeling frustrated and let down.

Clive Mason goes behind the scenes of the latest staging of the hit musical Tommy as it goes on a national tour. With a deaf and disabled cast and new songs, will the new production be a success?

And Maab Adam and Lynn Stewart Taylor are in the studio to present their regular round up of news stories from across the UK.
