Brian puts his foot in it, and Kirsty wants to make amends.
Alice is still pressing Brian to commit to buying from her company in order to future-proof Home Farm. Hearing her presentation, he promises to give it some serious thought, but suggests they leave it there. Alice is philosophical, reporting to her mum later that she's enjoyed the exercise anyway.
Kirsty goes to see Peggy. She can't possibly keep the cheque Peggy gave her, now she won't be raising a child. Peggy insists the money was a gift, not a down payment on another great-grandchild. It will be useful for Kirsty to have a nest egg. She begs Kirsty to indulge an old lady. Kirsty graciously accepts.
Jennifer's a little surprised by Lilian's equivocal reaction to Justin's proposal. Lilian's not sure Justin loves her, and more to the point, what her feelings are for him. She begs Jennifer not to divulge this latest development to Peggy. But Peggy's ears prick up when Justin's name's mentioned at lunch. She's hoping the affair really is over; that Lilian isn't a liar as well as a cheat. Jennifer later apologises to rattled Lilian on their mother's behalf. But it's crystallised things for Lilian. She can't let this situation hang any longer; she's meeting Justin tomorrow, to tell him how she feels.
