Craig Charles heads back to the 1970s, a decade of psychedelic soul and disco when music had no boundaries, as part of the BBC's My Generation: 1970s season.
'As part of the BBC's My Generation: 1970s season, the Craig Charles Funk and Show takes you back to a decade of psychedelic soul, disco and a time when music had no boundaries. Parliament-Funkadelic, James Brown, Kool and the Gang, Sly and the Family Stone where all dominating the charts. At the same time you had the likes of Rufus and Chaka Khan with a smooth yet funky sound.
If ever a musical style defined a decade then, Disco was the definition of 1970s. Although it didn't hang around for long the genre produced a great number of popular hits that are still relevant today. Over the next 3 hours we'll take you through the funk and soul genres that shaped the 1970's.
