Sentimental Gentleman

A look back at some of the recordings made for The Organist Entertains in the early days of the series in the late 1960s and early 1970s when it was presented by Robin Richmond.

A look back at some of the session recordings made for The Organist Entertains in the early days of the series in the late 1960s and early 1970s when it was presented by Robin Richmond.

The featured organists include Vic Hammett at the Granada Harrow Wurlitzer, George Blackmore at the console of the Compton in Southampton's Guildhall and the programme's then host Robin Richmond with a memorable performance of Mack The Knife on the mighty Willis organ in London's Royal Albert Hall.

Plus the lyrical sounds of Hubert Selby and Eric Lord both heard at the Wurlitzer in Manchester's Odeon Cinema with Rudolf Friml's Love Everlasting and Jimmy McHugh's Don't Blame Me.
