Would you pay more tax to help our ailing health care system? That's what a doctor and former Conservative health minister has called for. Dan Poulter says a new tax is needed to ensure the UK has a properly funded health service. He told the Observer newspaper that raising National Insurance was one of the simplest ways forward.

Sinn Fein revolt - 18 party members quit in North Antrim
Revolt in the ranks of Sinn Fein. Eighteen activists in north Antrim, including a councillor, have quit the party. They say it's in protest at the treatment received by former MLA Daithi McKay who resigned from the Assembly. That came after it was revealed he'd been in contact with the loyalist Jamie Bryson before he gave evidence to a Stormont committee.

Talking of the Great British Bake Off, MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace has criticised Bake Off star Mary Berry over her suggestion that no family should own a deep-fat fryer. Writing in the Sun, Wallace said the UK was "built on chips and spam fritters", and called Berry's comments an "attack on our British way of life".
