Neil is not sure he is the right person for the job, and Fallon is made to wait.

Alice and Fallon are waiting for Susan and the rest of the fete committee to join them for an emergency meeting. Alice reports that Kate's first guests gave very good reviews of the yurts. Fallon tries to start the meeting but Susan is full of village news and gossip. Fallon steers conversation round to the four main problems they are facing. She has managed to offend local celebrity Jean Harvey by asking her to run the "Guess How Many Jelly Babies" stand. That just leaves someone to take charge of parking, for which they need a firm hand. And there's only one person who is ruthless enough...

Neil and Susan talk about Benny Carvalho, who is scheduled to open the fete. Susan has picked up a lot of football knowledge from Barry at the shop.

Anna Tregorran visits Neil to ask him to be a character witness for Helen but he doesn't think he is right for the task. He has always liked Helen but they have never been close. Anna says that is why his point of view is needed. Once Neil has finished with the pigs, they converse about what Neil remembers of Helen's early life. He refuses to badmouth Rob, though, having always got on well with him. Anna leaves and Neil tells Susan he has agreed to speak for Helen in court. Susan thinks he is making a big mistake.
