Ian Skelly presents highlight concerts and recordings given by the BBC Performing groups this year. The programme begins with music from a concert the BBC National Orchestra of Wales gave at St David's Hall in Cardiff, featuring Rachmaninov's choral symphony The Bells, for which they were joined by the BBC National Chorus of Wales and soloists Anastasia Kalinga, John Daszak and Mikhail Petrenko. Then to the BBC Philharmonic for performances of Haydn's Symphony no.44, 'Trauer', and Schubert's Symphony no.9 'The Great' both conducted by Juanjo Mena.
