Mike Parr tells the story of Stan Hollis whose acts of bravery during beach landings resulted in him becoming the only person to receive a Victoria Cross for heroics on D-Day.
Company Sergeant Major Stan Hollis from Middlesbrough carried out acts of bravery during the beach landings on D-Day which resulted in him getting Britain's highest military honour - he became the only person to receive a Victoria Cross for their heroics on D-Day. In a programme first broadcast by BBC Radio Tees in June this year, Mike Parr took Stan's granddaughter Amanda back to Normandy, and unearthed a long lost interview with Stan himself.
