The US and UN have condemned the shelling of a school housing displaced civilians in Gaza and fire rips through Eastbourne Pier.

The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has condemned Israel's shelling of a UN school in Gaza where thousands of Palestinians were taking shelter. Elsewhere, a devastating fire has torn through Eastbourne Pier completely destroying its roof. Liberia's government announced it is closing down all schools across the country and deploying troops to stop the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. And the science phone-in with Dr Karl.
