Adam Walton and guests preview events at this year's Cardiff Science Festival which kicks off on the 14th July.

Rhys Phillips tempts us with a preview of the "Pythagorean Cabaret" where science, maths and comedy collide in what promises to be a lively start to the festival.

There's food samples on offer for all the family at the "Chemistry of Cooking" event with John Bradley, and also more food (plus drink) as Techniquest in Cardiff host an "After Hours" event strictly for adults.

Red Dwarf fans get to hear Robert Llewellyn with his "serious head" on discussing the future of batteries and our attitude to using energy.

Oceanographer Robert Houghton gives us a fascinating insight into the life of marine predators including basking sharks and leather back turtles and how they are having to adapt to changing conditions in the oceans.

There's also the unlikely, but hugely entertaining idea that we could build "Earth 2" when the current one just gets too full of people.
