Two former popes will be declared saints by Pope Francis in Rome today. John XXIII and John Paul II are considered among the most significant pontiffs of the 20th century.
More than a million people are expected to be in Vatican City later for a unique event in the history of the Roman Catholic Church - two former popes are being declared saints. Russia says it will do all it can to bring about the release of European military observers detained in eastern Ukraine by pro-Russia separatists.
