An investigation into domestic violence in Scotland based on interviews and research with victims and told in their own words. These are the stories behind the statistics.

This investigation reveals the violence that takes place every day of the year in households all over Scotland.

Eleven deaths, 313 attempted murders, nearly 23,000 incidents involving assaults - this is the shocking truth about the scale of domestic violence in Scotland last year.

The film is based on interviews and research with victims and told in their own words. These are the stories behind the statistics. Lives turned upside down by behaviour that is systematic, calculated and designed to subjugate and humiliate the victim, irrespective of age, class and ethnic background. Lives where trauma is routine and where the perpetrator can act with impunity, safe in the knowledge that what goes on behind closed doors will go undetected.
