Operation Christmas Child
Filling a shoebox for a needy child across the world is now an unmissable part of seasonal preparation for huge numbers of people. Operation Christmas Child began in Wrexham 23 years ago, and last year delivered its 100 millionth gift-filled box. On All Things Considered this week, Roy Jenkins joins the bustle of the last-minute sorting and packing at one Welsh church - and also meets the globe-trotting Simon Barrington from Cardiff, the UK executive Director of Samaritan’s Purse with ultimate responsibility for the whole project.
